Pan American Silver (NASDAQ and TSC – PAAS) procured the N-Connex Network solution to solve their mine communications, tracking and future data requirements. Their La Colorado mine in Mexico was ready to install a traditional Leaky Feeder style radio solution, when Pan American management reviewed N-Connex and identified the advantages of the network.
The initial system includes 16 Nodes (Distribution, Power and Battery Modules) along with over 90 Bolt Access Points. This provides coverage for voice communications via the Icom IP100 Radio Terminal in all major working and transit areas, along with full data and network access over the high speed Gigabit backbone.
La Colorado will use the N-Connex system as their primary voice solution for both Productivity and Safety. Expansions are already planned to cover other areas of the mine with WiFi and Ethernet connectivity. Additionally, Tracking of personnel and vehicles will also be implemented in the near future. La Colorado highlights how mines no longer need Leaky Feeder or radio style systems for their voice communications, but rather can achieve a more cost effective solution by implementing N-Connex.
The installation and support for Pan American Silver is being provided by our Mexican distributor, Importaciones and NLT Australia.
